As a Senior Designer for our design systems team, you'll shape and maintain Pedal, Turo's design system, alongside a team of fully-staffed designers and engineers. Your keen eye for detail and systems thinking will elevate usability, polish, and brand expression across our products. You'll empower the entire product organization to work efficiently while providing Turo's users with cohesive visual language and consistent interactions at every touchpoint. As a self-starter, you'll be motivated knowing your contributions enable your product peers to excel and drive meaningful business impact.
Design and maintain clean, organized system solutions that drive adoption and align with platform standards
Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation
Manage Pedal's token system with a systematic approach to typography, color, and foundational design elements
Deeply understand product team needs and business goals to provide effective consultative support across the product organization
Partner with product teams to drive design system adoption, ensuring smooth integration of components and patterns into their workflows
Maintain Pedal quality standards across all components, including naming conventions, theming, accessibility, and QA requirements
Participate in design reviews championing system consistency, accessibility, and platform-specific best practices
Design effectively for front-end frameworks like React, SwiftUI, and Jetpack Compose
Keep up with emerging design tools and technologies to improve system workflows and processes
3+ years of experience as a System Designer, plus prior product design experience
Demonstrated ability to balance flexibility with constraints when designing composable system solutions
Experience with design system governance and contribution models (e.g. systems of systems)
Advanced proficiency in Figma, with expertise in creating and managing design libraries, complex components, and variables
Experience prioritizing backlogs for systems additions and updates
Strong communication skills, with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences
Deep understanding of user-centered design, interaction patterns, and emerging UI trends
Ability to navigate uncertainty while solving complex design and technical challenges
Sharp eye for detail and strong aesthetic judgment
Bonus skills
Experience developing Figma plugins end-to-end
Direct experience with internationalization and implementing motion design tokens
Hands-on experience with React, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, or other front-end technologies
Experience using AI tools to optimize design system workflows
For this role, the target base salary range for remote locations in the U.S is $146,000-$183,000 USD annually. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits. In general, our ranges reflect the market-based target for new hire salaries based on the level and location of the role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by objective factors assessed during the application and interview process, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
